GSSM provides a wide variety of coveralls and disposable pants. These different types of coveralls have different applicable roles of protection as are outlined below.
Manufacturers provide consumers with a wide range of coveralls and disposable pants to ensure that everyone is protected and comfortable regardless of the job. They range anywhere from a heavy, well-sealed biohazard suit to light disposable pants, tops, and coveralls. Once you know what you are working with and the level of safety protection it requires, you can compare it with the available suits to find the perfect match.
Biohazard Suits
At the high end of the safety scale, biohazard suits are made to protect against chemicals, aerosols, viruses, bacteria, and much more. The manufacturer constructs these outfits with a superior level of strength from high density polyethylene so they resist heat, moisture, and the smallest contaminants.
The seams are generally heat sealed or cemented to ensure these suits have a strong seam without small needle holes that can allow pathogens into the suit. While these suits are disposable, you can reuse them. You can also buy recycled versions as long as they haven't been in an area near contaminants that may pose a threat.
Flame Retardant Clothing
For anyone who may be working with flammable substances, flame retardant coveralls are a must. Those in the Air Force or oil/gas industry often wear Nomex or another brand equivalent. These are treated with a special chemical that prevents the flame from reaching the actual threads in the weave. They are available in light fabric for summer, heavier weight for cooler days, and insulated to protect against extreme cold.
Cotton Work Overalls
A favorite of farmers and ranchers, heavy cotton work overalls resist tears, wear, and moisture, making it easy to work outside in most situations. For warmer days, you can get half suits with suspenders and insulated styles (also called duck suits) for winter. Hunters also prefer this style in a camouflage version.
Lighter cotton overalls are ideal for those employed in the automotive industry and others who need protection against oil, dirt, and grime. These offer light moisture and particulate matter protection, but are not as resilient when it comes to wear and tear. Some mechanics actually prefer disposable pants and top or suits instead of these because of the types of stains possible.
Paint Shells
A hybrid between light cotton and disposable varieties, these are a favorite of anyone working with paint or similar substances. They have the ability to protect skin and clothing against stains despite being a light cotton fabric with an almost paper-like texture. These safety garments are highly affordable, making them ideal for these professions because of the frequency with which they need to change.
Disposable Coveralls
In this category fall three main styles. Tyvek, made from a light, breathable fabric, are at the lowest end of the protection scale. Maxguard disposable pants, tops, and suits consist of heavy fabric that is stronger and harder for chemicals to penetrate. In the middle, brands such as Kleenguard coveralls and disposable pants are more breathable than Tyvek. All of these brands give you the convenience of being durable enough to use in many situations while still being affordable enough to toss away when they become overly damaged or dirty.
These examples of disposable pants, shirts, and coveralls provide you with several options to keep you safe regardless the situation. To choose the right one, consider the various substances or threats you might face, and match it to one of the available suits.
